Orice parinte asteapta cu nerabdare mometul in care copilul sau ii zambeste sau spune primul cuvant. Prima luna a bebelusului este plina in mare parte de plans si liniste. Chiar si asa, bebe absoarbe totul in jurul. Apoi va invata sa le imite. Inainte de ati da seama, copilul incepe sa comunice.
Contactul cu ochii
Intre sase si opt saptamani, copilul va incepe sa te urmareasca cu ochii. Este mai mult decat o realizare fizica – aceasta granita asigura ca este normal din punct de vedere neurologic, iar creierul inregistreaza si aminteste o fata familiara. Daca bebelusul nu s-a intalnit cu privirea ta pana la finalul celei de-a treia luna de la nastere, nu intra in panica. Daca este obosit sau nu are chef sa interactioneze, ar putea evita contactul cu ochii. Este important sa indepartezi alte cauze ale intarzierii, cum ar fi o boala a ochilor, sau probleme de atasare.
Zambetul si rasul
Cam pe la aceeasi perioada bebelusul ia contact cu cei din jur folosind ochii, bebelusul te va rasplati cu un zambet sincer. Acest zambet social este ceea ce conteaza: bebelusul raspunde la primele forme de comunicare. Zambetul este un semn bun ca bebelusul se maturizeaza din punct de vedere neurologic. Indica faptul ca poate sa vada la distante scurte, poate sa distinga ceea ce vede si zambeste. Gangurelile si rasul sunt urmatorii pasi in comunicare la bebelusi. La fel ca si in cazul contactului cu ochii nu o sa vezi zambetul pana la luna a patra.
Ganguritul si bolboroseala
Pe la opt saptamani, ai putea sa auzi un sunet placut – prima gangureala a bebelusului. Va fi la fel de surprins si de incantat de sunet la fel cum veti fi si tu, si poate va mai dura un pic pana sa descopere cum sa faca asta din nou. Va incerca din nou si din nou pentru a va imita, asa ca nu te opri din vorbit! In saptamanile ce urmeaza, copilul va merge mai departe spre bolboroseala. Acest mod de a vorbi al copilului este amuzant pentru tine. – va gasi sunete – "ma", spre exemplu - si va merge mai departe repetand sunetul: "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma". Utilizarea diferitelor parti ale gurii si gatului decat a folosit pentru gangureala, bolboroseala este o alta indicatie a cresterii adecvate. Dupa alte cateva saptamani - pe la sase opt luni - bebelusul va raspunde cu propria voce. Aceasta bolboroseala reciproca este primul pas spre dezvoltarea abilitatilor de vorbire. Continua sa vorbesti cu bebelusul despre orice si acesta va adauga cate ceva la fiecare conversatie.

Gesturile bebelusului
Incepand cu prima aniversare a bebelusului, gesturile sunt o indicatie buna ca bebelusul intelege limbajul. Fie ca da din maini, arata intr-o directie spre jucaria favorita sau imita alte gesturi, este un semn ca stie ce gandeste si stie ca poate sa va spuna despre acest lucru in acest mod. Daca il intrebi unde este ceva, va putea sa iti arate. Acest lucru inseamna nu numai ca poate comunica prin gesturi dar poate si sa inteleaga diferite cuvinte.
Primul cuvant
Cei mai multi copii incep sa vorbeasca pe la 12 luni. Toate granitele de comunicare de pana acum ajuta la formarea vorbirii. Pana la 15 – 18 luni, copii spun de la cinci la cincizeci de cuvinte. Devine de asemenea aparent ca ei inteleg cuvinte. Ei ar trebui sa fie capabili sa urmeze comenzi simple. Copilul depinde de mama sa pentru a initia interactiunea sociala. Doar pentru ca nu face foarte multe lucruri nu inseamna ca nu intelege. Copilul va invata sa recunoasca vocea, fata si atingerea ta si le asociaza cu confortul. Pentru moment, numai faptul ca stie ca esti langa el este suficient. Nu va mai dura mult pana sa ajunga la chicote si la a vorbi fluent.
